Dr. Elhai: Fee Schedule

Dr. Elhai: Fee Schedule

IBSL handles only forensic cases. In forensic cases, our “client” is the attorney who hires our practice. Therefore, all fees are billed to the attorney and the attorney is expected to pay the fees through their firm. Whatever fee/payment arrangements that are made between the attorney and his/her client to cover the costs of the forensic evaluation are between the attorney and his/her client. IBSL DOES NOT AND WILL NOT BILL THE ATTORNEY’S CLIENT DIRECTLY. In addition, it is unethical for psychologists to work on a contingency fee so please do not ask us for such payment arrangements. All bills are expected to be paid in full within 30 days of their receipt.

The following is the fee schedule for Dr. Elhai:

  • Criminal, Family, or Civil Law cases involving psychological evaluation, records review, consultation, conferencing, report preparation, deposition, and/or testimony
  • Out of pocket expenses (e.g., airfare, meals, lodging, car rental, parking) will be billed at cost.
  • Travel time expenses on non-testimony days are negotiated prior to travel.
  • Cancellation fee (less than 2 days of notice) is equivalent to three hours of work.

Some agencies have set hourly fees or fee caps, which are lower than the above-stated fees. These cases are sometimes accepted, but these determinations are made on a case-by-case basis depending on numerous variables, such as case load at the time, amount of work and/or travel required, case interest, and specific experience required.
